Hans Coper's Swinton School Wall Mural
We feature potter
Hans Coper and artist Fraser Taylor on today's blog...the highlighted Coper's work is at auction at
Philips de Pury & Co. in London in a few weeks and the Taylor works are long time favorites. Why do we pair the two? An innate reaction, we suppose, to marks and forms created by years of discipline and minutes of hand-work. Taylor's elegant lines create a sense of space and movement, but no volume. Coper's work is it's antithesis, voluminous and biomorphic, his vessels imply function and nature....the evidence of humanity understood through process.
