So Close, Yet So Far Away

There is something astounding about the aesthetic relationship between the architecture of Ensamble Studio and the artist Adriaan Berend Wagemaker. Although there is 45 years between the creation of the artwork and the building of this house, it seems as if one was constructed for the other- material, palette and geometries that soften as they interact with the organic forms around them.

We're Back...

If the vintage, decorative woven items in this blog were not enough to get us "back in the swing of things",  the "behind the scenes" images at Yigel Azrouel's Fashion Week show did. We love the austere beauty of the models and the hints of an elegant, earthy palatte.

Stream of Consciousness...Imagining a Decade

Taking my life in my hands, I've gone '80's again! Actually, after last night's blog entry, this week we've decided to use an inspiration photo that we've taken to define a movement, decade or an aesthetic we love. It's a stream of consciousness that we're having fun with, so stay with us!

Great finds in Maine

The deals are hot when there is 14" of snow on the ground in Maine. We love scouring the antique stores and, though you'd think that primitives and painted country would be the only offerings, modernism is alive and well. A few recent finds:

A surprise find was this lovely 13" tabletop sculpture, signed F. Russo.

Mexican silver and stone pitcher and tumblers- gorgeous materials, color and design.

Early bookends....lovely, fluid abstractions with a Moore/Weinberg feel.

And yes, a 12" vintage Cornell horsehair paintbrush with the patina of years of hard work- beautiful!
