Lynn Whipple, Ninny Box

We've been aware of
Lynn Whipple's mixed media work using vintage photographs for a while now. Over the years, there have been quite a few who copy, but none replicate the whimsical, smart juxtapositions of vintage ephemera and photos like Ms. Whipple.
Bettina Speckner's jewelry also utilizes antique photography to quite a different effect- hauntingly elegant and breathtakingly refined, Speckner's pieces evolve the relevancy of forgotten imagery. By treating the photo as a sculptural element, both artists challenge our awareness of the past by changing its history and form in the present.
