Pied A Terre in A Day
Sometimes when we're on the hunt we challenge each other to design a room using only the items in the store we're currently in. It's somehow freeing to stretch our thinking with constraints, and always fun to see what the other one comes up with. And while it's certainly easier to play online, you never know who's going to win if it's an online auction. Bids aside, here's a room we came up with together at Liveauctioneers. Vive la France!

Bodies in Motion
Check out Figurations: The Fashion District's Pilings Project now in Midtown on 7th Avenue- An amazing collection of resin, figurative sculptures by Joan Benefiel . The sculptures reference Manuel Neri's and other midcentury modernist figurative work, but take on a new dimension in the color-saturated, semi-transparent resin. Against the hard geometric skyscrapers, amid the oppressive NYC heat, each gesture seems childishly heroic and Kool-Aid refreshing...it's the most fun we've had in midtown in a while!

Saturday's Mountain of Mushrooms
On a community garden tour on Saturday, our last stop was the mountain top estate of a European couple who had made New England their home for the last eleven years. The views and garden were amazing, but when we took a wrong turn and ended up walking through their fairly untouched forest, we were astounded by the amazing variety of mushrooms! When we got back, our host said "Well, I'm sorry but there is nothing to see in there"so we smiled, said how lovely his gardens were and left knowing, as always, the most miraculous sights are not cultivated, but natural...

In the Woods
Every weekend is another adventure in NH, whether big or small. The little forest that runs along our river front never ceases to amaze us. A little dampness this weekend brought out the salamanders and mushrooms in the most gorgeous, bright colors. The storefront found in Old Houses Online offered a great way of bringing color saturation to an old home while still being tasteful- use nature as your inspiration!

Rural Sophistication
